Visit to Tenille & Tanya's October 2009

Sam, Tara and I went to Paradise to visit with Tenille & Matt in their new home. (Tenille, Tara & Sam were all taking pics with their "fancy" cameras)

We went to the Johnny Appleseed Days just down the street from Matt & Tenille's house.

Tenille found this toilet seat that had fly fishing flies embedded in the plastic....too funny:)

Sam moved their water fountain from the middle of the lawn to this location in front of the house.

Matt just got home from work in his police stuff.

Tenille put tickets in a quilting club raffle at the Johnny Appleseed Days booth and she won 3 quilts!

We went to the mountains and it was very cold, so we found a fire pit that still had coals in it and made a well needed fire.

After Sam & Tara left for Bako, Tenille & I had to put puzzles together at the park, of course!

Cole helped open a few presents, but then he wanted to play with them, so the rest of the kids at the party "helped" him by opening up the rest of the presents.

Sam and Jacob's Sprint Triathalon Sept. 19, 2009

Sam and Jacob did a Sprint Triathalon (Sam's first) at Lake Ming. It started at 8:30am and they did a 1/2 mile swim, a 12 mile bike and 3.5 mile run.
They are in the transition area before the race started.

Jacob finished the race in 1 hour 29 minutes and beat his goal, but overdid it and had to go to the hospital with heat stroke. He is fine now.
Sam right after the race was over cooling down. He finished the race in 1 hour 41 minutes.
Sam got third place in his age division! Yea Sam! The videos below are the start of the swim, Jacob finishing and Sam finishing. ( It's in reverse order)

Trip to Aunt Ordella's in Sparta, Wisconsin

I met up with my brother in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a trip down to Wisconsin to meet and visit with my Great Aunt Ordella (my grandpa's sister). The first place he took me was to the Mall of America, which he is pointing at, and it was Enormous!!!
When I got off the plane in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Greg took me to the Mall of America. Right in the middle of the mall is this huge amusement park. It also has four levels with 520 stores!
We entered Wisconsin just on the other side of the Mississippi River from Minnesota

Me and Great Aunt Ordella (my grandfather's only living sibling (she'll be 94 in two weeks) I interviewed her about her life, and we had such a great time together, like we had known each other all of our lives!
We stayed two nights in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and we were right on the Mississippi River.
Greg's biggest thrill on this trip was to go to the Spam Museum....it was quite the place!

Greg and I ate at the old train station/restaurant in Faribault, MN where my Grandpa grew up.
Found the park that was made where my grandfather grew up and worked at the mill that used to be there.
Greg and I found the mill pond where the King Mill was where our great-grandparents and grandfather lived and worked.

Lucky, Our New Kitten

Kitty Story: Our friends, the Bannings, have two labs. One of the labs found four kittens behind their shed. It carried them to the back door. The mother had been shot and killed by neighbor boys, and only one of the kittens lived. They bottle fed it for 10 days, but Karen was allergic to cats, so Janet told us about it and we went down there to see it. Daymon told us the story and Janet said to Sam, "Don't you want to save this kitty?" Sam said, "How did I get involved in this?" (after we had to have our dog put to sleep, he had said that we wouldn't be having any other animals). We ended up taking her home. Tara kept it for two weeks before her kids left for the summer and they fed it and had a great time with it. We have had her since Memorial Day and she is growing up, but still pretty little! It is VERY playful and attacks anything, even if it is not moving:) The grandkids love it and the first thing Andi says when she comes over is, "Where is the kitty?" We named her Lucky because she was lucky to be alive!

It was my birthday on June 5th, so we went to Disneyland (because you get in free on your birthday), well, the day before was Kaylie's birthday and Jacob and Tara and all the kids went to Disneyland, so they stayed over and went with us too! We had a great time and if you notice the birthday button I'm wearing, everyone that saw me that worked for Disneyland kept wishing me Happy Birthday....I've never been told that so many times in all my life! We had a great time at the Happiest Place on Earth!

HAPPY BIRTH DAY COLE!

Cole Terry was born at 3:40pm on October 11, 2007. He weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long. It was quite an eventful day, to say the least. Tanya went into the hospital at 6am to be induced. They started her on petosin (sp?) and increased the dose every 1/2 hour. At 10am they broke her water, because Cole's heartrate dropped, but went back up when she moved (he didn't have much amniotic fluid inside, so they put a rod up inside to add saline water and an internal probe to monitor the contractions. They also gave her an epidural shot (took 5 tries!) and so she was having contractions, but couldn't feel them. The baby's heartrate fell a couple more times, but the last time it fell, they checked her and she was 9 1/2 cm dilated. They couldn't get the baby's heartrate up, so they whisked her into the OR at 3:34pm and did an emergency c-section and he was out at 3:40pm....crying and just fine:) Tanya was a real trooper and was calm throughout the whole ordeal! Billy wasn't allowed into the OR, which was upsetting for Tanya and Billy was very upset and worried. But everything turned out just fine and both mother and baby are doing great! He is a very calm baby and rarely cries. Doesn't like to be wrapped up, have his diaper changed or take a bath...but other than that he is nursing great and is either asleep, just looking around or eating. Today is Saturday, and I think they will come home tomorrow. Tanya is up and walking around a little and took a shower last night. She is very tired because they keep waking her up to check her vitals and to nurse Cole.

Adam Hansen's Wedding

Just got back from Adam & Aubre Hansen's sealing at the Los Angeles Temple. It was a beautiful day and there were about 40 people in the sealing room. Adam's grandpa Adams performed the ceremony. I will try to attach a video of them coming out...

Well, since my LOVELY, BEAUTIFUL, TALENTED daughter set up my blog a few months ago and SHE had to do my first blog, thot I'd better do it myself! I hope it works, because I am an OLD lady w/tons of dead brain cells;)

I want to start with something happy & good. Tanya is expecting the first of October with Cole Terry and we are very excited! Linda Terry(Billy's mom) had a shower for her last Saturday and it was wonderful. Tanya looks so cute with her little belly:)

I downloaded the wrong camera, so will post pics of the shower later.

We had a Father's Day celebration here and had Jacob, Tara, Hannah, Nate, Paige, Thad, Brittany & Andi....fun times:) Here is a pic of Sam w/his goods:)

Now for the bad things....they come in 3, right? First, I lost my job after 8 years (they eliminated my position) whatever that means. So I am unemployed and loving it! Time for the grandchildren:) A month after that, our cat never came home and I went to the animal shelter every other day and Tenille & Matthew made fliers and took them door-to-door, but no Honey:(

While visiting the shelter, I kept seeing a siamese cat that kept meowing & reaching for me, so when she came up for adoption, I asked Sam if we could have her, and low and behold, he actually agreed to it!!! (I decided the permission route was better than the forgiveness route)

But the last bad thing was I wrecked the Suburban (bad thing #3) on the same day we got our new bedroom furniture. Now I'm out of bad things, right?

I realize this is my first blog, but maybe I will do better as I go along:)
